Hydrodynamic modeling

We build regional and harbor-scale circulation models with ADCIRC and SCHISM, at resolutions from kilometers offshore to tens of meters in channels. Meshes are developed from 1-meter NOAA lidar topobathymetry, with native wetting and drying, dredged channels and engineered structures resolved in the mesh, and site-specific corrections incorporated where surveys warrant.

Models nest: boundary forcing is interpolated from our calibrated regional tidal databases, so a local model inherits a validated open-ocean tide. Our flagship harbor model of Woods Hole, Massachusetts, with a minimum mesh edge of 8.4 meters, runs in production in Actual Currents today.
